Description:

Geophysics: Applied Geophysics

A second-cycle degree graduate has a broad knowledge of exact sciences and earth sciences as well as an advanced knowledge of pure geophysics and applied geophysics. A graduate knows theoretical basis and is able to describe and analyse geophysical parameters acquired with different geophysical methods in terms of evaluation of physical properties of rocks and dynamics of physical processes.

A graduate knows how to use the up-to-date systems for data processing and interpretation. He or she can single-handedly design and carry out geophysical measurements and can manage solving prospecting problems under complex geological conditions and in mineral resource recovery.

A graduate is able to design and perform environmental monitoring in time and space using geophysical methods. He or she can apply up-to-date geophysical methods into engineering problems. He or she knows how to design and complete geophysical survey to evaluate natural and man-made environmental hazard including threats related with extraction of energy and mineral resources. A graduate can single-handedly manage a project both in terms of  its substance and law and economics. He or she can also co-operate with representatives from other fields.

A M.Sc. in Applied Geophysics can be in control of subordinate employees and manage with economic problems maintaining legal and ethical principles. A graduate is ready to begin work in geophysical and geological and mining companies as well as in research and development centers. M.Sc. holders can also enroll to doctoral studies (third-level studies).
