PROFILE - SHORT DESCRIPTION

Nicolaus Copernicus University offers graduate and postgraduate courses in over 100 fields of study, including 27 doctoral programmes. As a result of our internationalization policy, number of foreign students is constantly rising. In addition, NCU has signed over 50 bilateral agreements and 485 inter-institutional agreements within exchange program Erasmus+

In 2013 more than 700 research projects were run with total budget of over 25 mln PLN. The 4 most prestigious were founded by The National Centre for Research and Development and 217 were supported by The National Science Centre. NCU has state-of-the-art research infrastructure including the National Laboratory of Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (FAMO), the Center for Quantum Optics, the Interdisciplinary Center for Modern Technologies, as well as the brand new University Sports Centre. The Centre for Astronomy in Piwnice near Toruń houses a unique 32-meter radio telescope. Spitsbergen is home to NCU Polar Station. NCU researchers can boast a number of spectacular successes which include, among others, the design and construction of an Optical Coherence Tomography instrument, an ultra-modern device for medical eye examinations.

Moreover, NCU was placed in several University Rankings: QS World University Rankings, U-Multirank, CWTS Leiden Ranking as well as CWUR (Centre for World University Rankings). The above confirms high standards of education, as well as constant development.
