Admission requirements: 

Although students are admitted to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities at the beginning of each semester, applications are accepted on a regular basis throughout the year. Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply for admission well in advance of the beginning of each semester though as class size remains limited.

Applications are carefully analyzed by the Admissions Committee, and every candidate is notified in writing of the final decision. Admitted candidates are given an official acceptance letter. After the admission, but before the commencement of studies, they are additionally asked to submit a copy of their visa (if applicable) and a copy of their insurance policy.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS) is the highest ranked private higher education institution offering programs in the field of humanities. The Institute of English Stuies provides the very best education in British and American literature and culture as well as theoretical and applied linguistics, organized as to allow students to focus on practical English language skills.

We stress speaking ability, recognizing both fluency and accuracy. The teaching staff are highly qualified Polish and international academics and other professionals. Apart from developing general English language skills and competences related to the English speaking world, students may choose one of the following specializations: English in Business and Media, English Teaching Studies, Translation Studies.  Following English in Business and Media program students acquire the basics of marketing, economy, public relations and skills such as blog-writing and other internet related activities.

Prospective teachers of English are offered a large array of courses designed to provide knowledge of teaching methods, psycholinguistics and pedagogy. Translation specialization is designed for Polish students, but can also be tailored to the needs of non-Polish students. The ultimate goal of our curriculum is to combine solid theoretical knowledge with practical preparation of language skills and competences which will make the graduate competitive on the job market.
